The tournament is in memory of Lisa Young (nee Czarnuch) who shined and inspired from 1976 to 2016. Although Lisa lost her 2 year battle to Cancer her battle does not end there. Over the past 6 years Lisa’s Walk for the Cure team, which of course she named “Save 2ndBase”, has raised over $20,000 and being it’s 5 years since Lisa has physically left us we thought we should bring together Lisa’s family and friends to share some stories and celebrate her spirit on the course. Winchester Golf Club seems fitting as well since it’s where the Durham District School Board held their tournament and where Lisa may have almost flipped a cart.

The tournament is to raise money for the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa where Lisa was treated but more importantly it’s where Lisa would like to help others fight this horrible disease. So please join us on September 17th to keep Lisa’s battle going while playing some golf and having some laughs as she would want!

Lisa watches over her son Riley (12) with pride and a BIG smile ear to ear. Those that knew Lisa know that smile well. Riley along with Lisa’s husband Derek and her parent’s Stan and Reg would love you to share stories and pictures of Lisa. Please  go the Gallery tab to share as Lisa lives through our memories and stories.

For more on Lisa's fight against cancer please see below a Blog that she created to help others fight this terrible disease.

"Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Every time someone reads my blog, it makes me feel like one more person is with me on my journey. Many hands makes lighter work. Someone else may need my story one day to help them along their own path. There is so much more to learn than I could have ever possibly imagined. Share this blog so it may help someone else understand or to help them deal with their own struggles."    -Lisa Young-
